Baking for Good
What is Baking for Good?
Baking for Good is a modern-day bake sale reimagined for the web. It's an online bakery that gives 15% of the net proceeds from each purchase to a charity that the customer chooses. Customers shop from among our all-natural, made-to-order bakery items, and then choose a charity to support at checkout. They can even suggest a nonprofit or community fundraiser for us to add to our list of charities.
Charities
What charities can I support through Baking for Good?
We have two types of charities:
- Our nonprofits are 501(c)(3) organizations recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as exempt from federal income tax. This list is growing all the time, and we welcome your ideas for nonprofits to add.
- Though they don't necessarily have nonprofit status, our community fundraisers are amazing charities that are accomplishing great things. Our customers have raised money to support school groups, kids' sports teams, friends and family members coping with an illness, marathon fundraising, and many other initiatives.
Does Baking for Good represent or endorse any of the charities listed on the site?
No. Our list of charities includes those charities that have received donations from us on behalf of our customers in the past or have requested to be added to our database in the hopes of being selected by our customers. We do not represent or endorse any of these charities. We do not solicit donations for any charity. Baking for Good has adopted a business model that offers our customers the option to designate 15% of the net proceeds generated by a customer's orders to a charity selected by the customer. We have been granted permission by our partner organizations to display and reference the information listed on our site in order to communicate to existing and prospective customers information about the organizations to which they may choose to direct 15% of the net proceeds of their purchases.
Can I support more than one charity at a time?
At this time you can only choose one charity to support per order. If you would like to support multiple charities, we ask that you please make multiple orders. Fortunately, our site allows you to place orders to multiple recipients at the same time, with just one checkout process.
Do all charities have to be registered nonprofits?
No. You can submit details for any kind of charity you want, as long as it engages in legal activities. If your charity is a nonprofit (501(c)(3)), we recommend having it added in our nonprofit database. If you want the fundraising to be in your name, e.g., "Emily raises money for nonprofit organization X," we can do this, but note that it will appear in the community fundraiser format and have text that explains that it is not the official nonprofit group, but rather one that has been user-added.
We reserve the right to remove any charity or content that we deem inappropriate.
Does my charity have to be located in the United States?
Your charity must have a home base in the United States where we can send the donations. Of course, many of our charities do their work all over the world.
Can I change the details of my charity once I have registered one?
Yes. If you need to change the details of your charity, email us at and include the name of your charity in the subject line.
Can I submit details for more than one charity?
Yes. You can submit details for as many charities as you want.
What if my charity no longer wants to be listed?
If you would like us to remove your charity from the site, please email us at . Please include the name of your charity in the subject line.
Donation Transactions
When will my charity receive funds from Baking for Good?
Over the course of each month, we keep track of how much money is owed to each charity. Then, during the first 10 days of the following month, we send payment to each charity as long as the total amount owed to that charity is at least $25. If less than $25 is owed to a charity at the end of the month, the funds will carry over each month until $25 accrues.
Can I receive a tax deduction for the 15% donation?
No, because the donation to the charity is not being made directly by you. Baking for Good is making the donation based on your recommendation.
What happens if my community fundraiser is over and we have less than $25 owed to us?
When a community fundraiser account is closed, we contact the person who registered the charity to make sure the charity's information is still correct. We then mail a check for the remaining amount to the organization. If we cannot reach the person who registered the charity, we make every attempt to contact another representative from the organization. If we cannot verify that this organization still exists, we contact all customers who still have donations to this charity outstanding, and we help them find another charity to support instead. If we cannot reach them within 30 days, we will choose another worthy charity to support instead.
What if you're unable to donate to my chosen charity for some reason?
If for some reason we cannot donate to the charity you choose, we will contact you to select an alternate charity. If you don't respond within 30 days, we will select another charity that meets high public standards and whose mission is similar to the organization that you originally selected.

Where are your products made?
We're based in New York City. Our products are baked and shipped all over the country from Long Island City, NY. We also do local catering and delivery for those in the area. Email us at for details.

All of our products are prepared in a facility that contains nuts. We do our very best to ensure that no nut products come in contact with our products that don't contain nuts, but unfortunately we can't make guarantees about traces of nuts.

Can I freeze your products?
Yes! We think our brownies, bars, and cookies freeze beautifully. We recommend wrapping each product individually in saran wrap and then in tin foil. When you're ready to eat one of the products, remove it from the freezer and let it defrost still in its packaging. Sometimes we blast them in the microwave (without the packaging, of course) for a couple of seconds if we're in a hurry. We recommend eating the products within one month if frozen.
