Baking for Good
What is Baking for Good?
Baking for Good is a modern-day bake sale reimagined for the web. It’s an online bakery that gives 15% of every purchase to worthy causes that our customers choose. Customers shop from among our all-natural, made-to-order bakery items, and then choose a cause to support at checkout. They can even suggest a nonprofit or community fundraiser for us to add to our list of causes.
Causes
What causes can I support through Baking for Good?
We have two types of causes:
- Our nonprofits are a carefully selected list of 501(c)(3)s, recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as exempt from federal income tax. This list is growing all the time, and we welcome your ideas for nonprofits to add.
- Our community fundraisers are not nonprofits, but they are wonderful causes that our customers have asked us to add. These causes include school groups, kids’ sports teams, friends and family members coping with an illness, marathon fundraising, and many other initiatives.
Can I support more than one cause at a time?
At this time you can only choose one cause to support per order. If you would like to support multiple causes, we ask that you please make multiple orders. Fortunately, our site allows you to place orders to multiple recipients at the same time, with just one checkout process.
Do all causes have to be registered nonprofits?
No. You can submit details for any kind of cause you want, as long as it engages in legal activities. If your cause is a nonprofit (501(c)(3)), we recommend having it added in our nonprofit database. If you want the fundraising to be in your name, e.g., “Emily raises money for nonprofit organization X,” we can do this, but note that it will appear in the community fundraiser format and have text that explains that it is not the official nonprofit group, but rather one that has been user-added.
We reserve the right to remove any cause or content that we deem inappropriate.
Does my cause have to be located in the United States?
Your cause must have a home base in the United States where we can send the donations. Of course, many of our causes do their work all over the world.
Can I change the details of my cause once I have registered one?
Yes. If you need to change the details of your cause, email us at and include the name of your cause in the subject line.
Can I submit details for more than one cause?
Yes. You can submit details for as many causes as you want.
What if my cause no longer wants to be listed?
If you would like us to remove your cause from the site, please email us at . Please include the name of your cause in the subject line.
Donation Transactions
When will my cause receive funds from Baking for Good?
Over the course of each month, we keep track of how much money is owed to each cause. Then, during the first 10 days of the following month, we send payment to each charity as long as the total amount owed to that charity is at least $25. If less than $25 is owed to a charity at the end of the month, the funds will carry over each month until $25 accrues.
Is my donation tax deductible?
No, at this time donations are not tax deductible for our customers.
What happens if my community fundraiser is over and we have less than $25 owed to us?
When a community fundraiser account is closed, we contact the person who registered the cause to make sure the cause’s information is still correct. We then mail a check for the remaining amount to the organization. If we cannot reach the person who registered the cause, we make every attempt to contact another representative from the organization. If we cannot verify that this organization still exists, we contact all customers who still have donations to this cause outstanding, and we help them find another cause to support instead. If we cannot reach them within 30 days, we will choose another worthy cause to support instead.
What if you’re unable to donate to my chosen cause for some reason?
If for some reason we cannot donate to the cause you choose, we will contact you to select an alternate charity. If you don’t respond within 30 days, we will select another charity that meets high public standards and whose mission is similar to the organization that you originally selected.

Do your products contain nuts?
All of our products are prepared in a facility that contains nuts. We do our very best to ensure that no nut products come in contact with our products that don’t contain nuts, but unfortunately we can’t make guarantees about traces of nuts.

Our products are all natural, so they don’t contain any artificial ingredients or preservatives. But they do stay fresh for quite a while! We recommend eating all our products within 1-2 weeks of receiving them. We don’t think you’ll have any trouble!
Can I freeze your products?
Yes! We think our brownies, bars, and cookies freeze beautifully. We recommend wrapping each product individually in saran wrap and then in tin foil. When you’re ready to eat one of the products, remove it from the freezer and let it defrost still in its packaging. Sometimes we blast them in the microwave (without the packaging, of course) for a couple of seconds if we’re in a hurry. We recommend eating the products within one month if frozen.
