Steel City Greyhounds Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit corporation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that is dedicated to finding loving homes for retired racing greyhounds who no longer qualify or fail to qualify as active racers.
Greyhounds begin their lives like no other breed, destined to be raised in the racing environment. They are competitive athletes, yet gentle and sensitive by nature, making them an excellent canine companion. They are affectionately known as the 40 mph Couch Potato.
Greyhounds placed through SCG Inc. are usually between 2 years old and 5 years old. These ex-racers are intelligent, quiet, clean, gentle, good-natured, adaptable dogs who adjust readily to their new home environment. They seem grateful for their new homes and regard their new owners with never-ending affection. They do not require a great deal of space to run, but they do enjoy a regular exercise routine.
