The mission of Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS NY) is to provide pet care assistance to individuals struggling both physically and financially so that they can keep their pets and continue to benefit from the human-animal bond. They focus on helping the elderly, people with disabilities, and individuals suffering from illness. PAWS NY services include, but are not limited to: dog walking, litter box maintenance, provision of food and water, transportation to the vet, and assistance with the delivery of pet supplies. PAWS NY also provides emergency and foster care when a client unexpectedly ends up in the hospital and it has a pet pantry through which it collects and distributes pet food and supplies to its clients.
For so many of their clients, their pet is their sole source of companionship, and the services provided by PAWS NY enable them to keep their pets when otherwise they may be forced to give them up. In addition to keeping families together, PAWS NY services reduce the number of animals surrendered to shelters, and as a result, decrease the number of animals euthanized. PAWS NY helps people by helping pets.
